SNOW!

Last night when we went to bed it was raining.. At some point in the early morning our power went out a few times and came right back on and I was in bed griping about the power company. Erik got up to let Maggie out and he said, "Come look out the window and you will see why the power went out!" There was probably an inch or snow and it was still snowing big flakes! This morning at 8 when I got up it looked like this picture. It was beautiful, but I was worried about my spring flowers! I hope they are ok. Most of the snow has melted now and the sun it out, so that's an improvement! I hope this is the last of the cold weather this year!

27 degrees!

For those of you who live in the warmer places and have escaped our cold weather, I just wanted to inform you that this morning the temperature in central Illinois is 27! We had our first hard freeze last night. Time to get the ice scrapers out and definitely the winter coats and gloves! This weekend it looks like I will be putting the flower pots and things away for the winter. Brr... Happy Tuesday!!

Snow

Lisa asked for it. Here is another picture from Friday's snow. This is my front yard... Isn't the deer cart next to the swing a nice touch?? Yup, I married me a redneck! Today it rained again most of the early morning, then a little sleet, and then it snowed all afternoon. It was wet snow, so it pretty much melted on the roads, but a little in the yard. I didnt' get any pictures, because it just looks yucky. :o)

What a weird weekend!!

Well, Friday we woke up to about 6 inches of snow. School was cancelled, and I didn't go to work. They never plow my road until much later in the day. Saturday was a little warmer, but still snow on the ground. Sunday was really weird. The forecast called for rain in the afternoon and overnight, and for several days after. We had freezing fog in the morning, which makes the trees all pretty and then if kinda blows off and looks like it's snowing. Then it kinda started to flurry. Then it started to do something that looked like a mix of sleet, snow and hail. I've never seen it do that before. Little hard balls that aren't quite wet enough to be sleet, but too hard packed to be snow. Then the thunder started... it "poured" what looked like rain, but was actually that stuff for a while. There was a good inch of it by the time it changed to sleet and then at some point durning last night it started raining. IT's really foggy this morning. Should be a treat driving to work. The kids are out of school today anyways, so they are happy to have a long weekend. Yesterday, the kids and I were sitting in the living room watching TV when thunder boomed and there was a loud CRACK! that scared the crap out of us. Knocked the phones out. We thought for a minute the satellite was a goner, but it rebooted and came back on line. But later on when I went to dry Erik's uniform, I realized that the control panel on my dryer is not working. I think it got hit too. Erik is giving me the old "told ya so" story about buying that electronic front loading dryer. "We had that other dryer for years and never had that problem..." blah blah... Of course our insurance would cover it, but if you carry a $500 deductible, I doubt it's going to cost that much to fix it! So I hope this Monday starts out better than the weekend! Happy Monday everyone!

BRRRR!

Man it's cold. When I went to lunch today it was 60 degrees. When I left work it was 21, and I think it's probably in the single digits now. The wind chill has got to be below zero. The wind is gusting like crazy. It was even hard to drive home in it! Tonight we are just hanging out watching tv and stuff. I am going to read. Erik is working on a powerpoint presentation for work. He's been working on that since last week sometime. Real exciting stuff going on at my house! Stay warm everyone!

Icy!

Here is a picture of today's beautiful weather! Sometime in the middle of the night there was some thunder and lightning and it poured. This is the result of below freezing temperatures and thunderstorms! It started Friday night with sleet off and on and then Saturday we had freezing rain showers all day. When we woke up this morning, this is what we had. I hate this weather. I wish it would just snow! I would much rather have snow than ice. We are going to hang out around the house. The kids are playing games and I am going to bake.

Have a great weekend!
